Algarve Almond Blossom Festival 2026 – Alta Mora, Castro Marim
The Almond Blossom Festival (Festival das Amendoeiras em Flor) opens the 2026 events season in the Algarve mountains, taking place from February 6–8, 2026 in the scenic Alta Mora mountain range, Castro Marim. Organized by the Recreational, Cultural and Sports Association of Friends of Alta Mora (ARCDAA), the festival celebrates the region’s natural heritage, cultural identity, and tourism, making it a highlight of the Algarve spring calendar.
What to Expect
Over three days, visitors can explore the mountains blanketed in white and pink almond blossoms. The festival offers four marked walking routes — 6 km, 9 km, 12 km, and 20 km — suitable for all fitness levels. Hikers can register online here to participate.
Cultural and Artistic Program
The festival blends tradition, folk, ethnography, and world music, including performances by:
World Music: Coletivo Capela, Malino, Eiró, Nuno Carpinteiro & Rubén Díez, Mar de Fora, DJ Catadiscos, and Cantadeira
Street Entertainment: Sofia Pimentão, Malatitsch, Serrabecos, Al-Fanfare, Bando dos Quatro
Popular and Traditional Music: Grupo Chulada da Ponte Velha, Recanto, Bela Banda
Solo Performances: Filipe Santos & Filipe Silva (Portuguese guitar), Silvino Campos (accordion)
Ethnography & Folklore: Rancho Folclórico do Azinhal, Grupo Coral e Etnográfico Vozes de Almodôvar
Special children’s programming includes a puppet show, “The Legend of the Almond Trees in Bloom”, dance performances, and interactive workshops.
Gastronomy and Artisan Experiences
Food lovers will enjoy:
The giant almond cake, reaching 44 meters in 2026, created in collaboration with the Vila Real de Santo António School of Hospitality and Tourism
A street market and Artisan Village featuring more than 50 local artisans
Workshops: bread-making, basketry, and almond tree planting
